The teacher jokes “children of today don't know about morals". The children respond, “yes we do, and we’ll show you." They then proceed to play the animals in a series of connected skits. The collection begins with the race between the “Tortoise and the Hare”, and along the way we meet, Androcles and the Lion, the Peacock and the Nightingale, the City and the Country Mouse, and a war between the Birds and Beasts which is finally resolved because it takes “too much time.” At the finish line, the tortoise wins because the hare took a nap and the is the grasshopper is big winner but loses it all to his debtors, “easy come, easy go.” To conclude, the students chide the teacher, “never underestimate the abilities of others”, to which she replies, “What a fitting end for the show.” A real romp for all, audience and players, and a million fun roles.
